MADRID WON’T SELL JOVIC
Real Madrid will not be selling striker Luka Jović this summer. Despite constant rumours linking him with a move to Arsenal. According to a report, Arsenal made an enquiry about Jovic in January. The club has admitted defeat in the race to keep club captain, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabonese forward has told the club he will not sign a new deal with the club. Barcelona lead the race to sign the player who will be out of contract at the end of next season.
Jović’s debut season with Madrid has been a disappointment. The €60 million signing has bagged just two goals in 24 appearances so far. The poor form has prompted rumours that Madrid are ready to cut ties with the Serbian international.
The rumours have accelerated in recent weeks as Real have been linked to a whole host of new strikers. Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland and Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé are both linked with the capital based club.
According to another report, Madrid are believed to have enquired about Arsenal’s Aubameyang, suggesting there may no longer be a place for Jovic at the club.
However, according to AS, Real are not interested in selling Jović. They are well aware that the 22-year-old is yet to live up to expectations, but they still believe he could be destined for superstardom. A source inside the club stated that some players take more time to reach their peak, some players struggle at 22 and later become a super player at 25. Madrid are ready to be patient with Jovic.
Karim Benzema has been the major attacking threat for Zidane’s men. Jovic who was brought in to study the Frenchman, and probably the long term replacement has failed to even compete with Benzema for a starting place in the first team.
